I like the Legend Productions offering, but the instructions are hard work.

Go for the Legend set, far superior quality resin and easier to work with.
The Revell M88A1 kit is for the German version (M88A1G) so it might be missing some parts like the smoke launchers, since the Germans use their own Wengman type.

I also recommend the Legend M88A2 conversion set.
As for the Revell M88A1G, it is the same plastic as the AFV Club kit with an extra sprue and new PE for the German-specific parts. It has all you need to build the US version in the box.

The M88 series has heavier duty T107 tracks, they are actually a little bit wider and have a different pitch than standard T97E1 tracks. Straight T142 tracks won't fit on them.
The IDF has modified some (different sprockets) to fit T142 tracks though.

The M88 uses T107 track which has a slightly longer pitch 7.04in compared to 6.94in of the T97 and T142 track

I'm more surprised that nobody has put out an M88A2 in styrene. The vehicle is well known, good looking and still in use. C'mon, Meng, make my dreams come true with an M88A2!

Also Trumpeter got zillions of BMP-3 variants, but do they put out the ARV variant? No!

I wouldn't recomend the Legend conversion , I tried this a while ago
and found that the resin parts had all shrunk , nothing fit right.
Here are som Pics. from the build.

If you have to have one, go with the Real Models one, the Legend one is Crap. I have found that the Real Models parts are really nice.

I haven't built it yet, but had both sets (Legend and Real Model). Side by side, the Legend set was much more accurate looking and better quality. I sold off the Real Model set and kept the Legend one. I have held mine up to the M88 donor kit and it seems to fit fine.

Thanks for those images.
Now I know what to reply in the next News item:
Why didn't they do one of the IDF M88s with the bar armour instead
