Darn, by "Late Production" I thought that they meant the A3 variant!

If it's an M3 late production why are showing a photo of an early production?

Early should be the riveted/welded slab sided turret, middle the horseshoe with cupola and late the horseshoe with double hatches as in the M3 hybrid?

All the other Stuarts are covered by AFV-club which are really definitive kits. Why want a new kit from Tamiya where a definitive kit already exists?

It's a placeholder image. The TamiyaBlog is not officially affiliated with Tamiya and not everyone there is an expert or even familiar with all things military.

The AFV Club T-34 series are perhaps the definitive T-34 kits these days but I'm happy when I see other companies do their own, especially considering cost and availability. Not every store stocks the same brands at the same prices.

The Wespe is more than likely a re-pop with different figures or something. It will be interesting to see if the tank is totally new tool or will it use elements from the 1974 early kit?

Wespe from 1974?

The Pzkpfw II F is from 1974, the Marder II from not long after. The Wespe was an all new tool from 1994. It shares no parts with the aged Pzkpfw II F/G kit just as the Panzer II C Tamiya did shares nothing but a the logo on the box with the ancient F/G

You know bloggers really should pay closer attention to placeholder images. Makes them look careless. Why should I trust a blogger who doesn't bother to properly choose something like That? What other sourced haven't they properly vetted?

The Wespe may be from 1994 but it is still missing the parts that attach to the interior; you can even see the alignment marks for the righthand panel in the instructions yet still nothing to put on them.

They need to address that if they want me to buy one. My idea of a fun build is NOT having to fix the same mistakes over and over.

Wespe from 1974?

I said "tank" not SPG, referring to the original Tamiya early M3. The Wespe, as stated by others is from 1994..and yes, suffers from a bit of a barren interior. Too bad, it's otherwise pretty good. Much better than the Alan one anyway!

I see they also have a motorized 1/16 Pz IV J. I would buy one but I'm sure it's pretty close to a mortgage payment in price.

I appreciate Tamiya's excellent engineering allowing great fit with no instruction issues, but I find myself cringing at their repackaged Italeri kits and their price-point on kits like their Nashorn kit are hard to handle. As to the Wespe kit,, yes I wish that there was more to the interior and that the figures included are pretty, well, basic, but no one else seems to be rushing to fill the demand. Odd that Dragon, the maker of all versions for everyone, hasn't used their Pz II kit to offer one yet.

The Dragon Pz.II series is nowhere near the finesse of the Tamiya kit. Even this 1994 kit is a juwel imho. It didn't really need a rerelease but oh well. The M3 needed a re-tool, I am more interested in the M5A1 (the afv club kit is super nice but Tamiya building concept/engineering/finesse is my preferred option) and an M8 HMC with nice ammo trailer would be my dream wish of all the tanks using this chassis, but Tamiya-San chose this kit, so better be happy with this!

One great thing about the old M3 was all seperate lift handles. I hope a new one isn't like their recent Shermans and just have a bunch of ridges.

I figure the Wespe will at least have new figures and markings.

Tamiya has been adding figures to the recent new releases, so they will probably just fill up the Wespe interior with three or four new figures.

The Academy version really isn't the definitive kit of the Non-A3 M3

I was referring to the AFV-CLUB M5A1 which is what the previous post was wishing Tamiya to do. I thought that was odd since the Afv-club M5A1 is considered definitive. The Academy Stuarts by comparison are sub-standard. Like their Sheridan I built them just to have one and kept away from reference materials to avoid long drawn out correction projects.

These days I prefer to build rather than rr-master flawed kits. So much easier on my stress level.
