I just purchased a Tamiya "M106A1 U.S. Armored S.P. Mortar" and it has two sets of instructions, and they are both in Japanese. They left out the English instructions! If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. If anyone has any general comments on this kit, I would appreciate that as well. Thanks.

I can scan the instructions tonight. I havent' built it but it's a decent kit though it's based on the standard Tamiya M113 frame. There's an Eduard set as well but I disagree with some parts of it and they missed some details.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions about the M106.

Doesn't Tamiya have pictures like Italeri has, cause Italeri doesn't have any words outside telling of the black arrows show glue spots, and the white arrows show not to glue, and the rest is on your own, but of course numbers of the parts

I had to opportunity to build this kit about a year ago and it went together very well. All parts fit like they should and it had nice details. Unfortunately I don't have the instructions or I'd mail them to you.

Good luck, you'll enjoy this one. Keep us posted on progress.

I built it also, goes together like the M-113. The photos should guide you through the weapon assembly. If you run into problem, can you post a photo and we can guide you from there.

This might help you with the weapon.... albeit it's the ground mounted version, but you'll get the idea...

I just recently obtained this kit and plan to use the four-deuce for the "Incoming" campaign...I too can get you a copy of the instructions if needed...

For what it's worth I was an instructor on this mortar carrier at Ft. Benning, Ga. for three years ('84-'87)...so, if you have any questions, let me know and I'll do my best to help out...

If you need assistance with the weapon system itself, I'm sure I can help you out as well...I was assigned to a 4.2 mortar platoon with the 82nd Abn Div., so I have lots of experience with the ground mounted version as well...

Damn, I get home and check my M106 box and I'm in the same boat. 1 set of Japanese instructions.

Sorry,

Oh come on! You 4.2 guys should be able to build that kit with your eyes closed. You can figure out Tamiya instruction even if they were written in Swahili. #:-) #:-) Make Fort Benning proud of you.

#:-) You are right but I was hoping to help out vandelay with a set of instructions. It's all up to 11Charlie now.

Paul,

At the risk of offending a fellow 4.2 mortar maggot (which I would never intentionally do) I can send you a copy of the english instructions as well...not that you would need them...

...let me know how you'd prefer to get them...scanned and emailed or snail mailed...

BTW, my copy in Japanese are free to a good home also...

The Infantry...always the vanguard...

Vandelay & ptruhe,

Another update...I have scanned the M106A1 instructions...they are ready to go...let me know if you want me to email them to you...I'm ready when you are brothers...

I'd post them here (if it's allowed) and if I knew how...I'm about as computer illiterate as they come...
