Hi guys!
I bought the Meng Panther ausf A for the stash without giving too much thought to how I'll Zimmerit it when I build it, but I see that Meng offers a decal version of the Zimmerit for this model...my question is has anybody used this yet? How does the decal perform over the (very well moulded) grainy surface texture of the tank? Any tips for applying it?
Thanks!
PS I see that meng suggests you use cyanoacrylate glue 'once the decal has dried out'...does anyone know what exactly they mean by this?

I think Meng means to seal edges with ca glue after decal has dried.

I used some wood glue thinned down with some water and brushed it onto the back of the decal. Holding up well so far. Tamiya extra thin also works well for snugging down those stubborn edges.

Mike, if you haven’t bought the Meng zimmerit already, I’d look into ATAK zimmerit sets. I’ve tried of bunch of different zimmerit variations so far and ATAK seems to give the best results, apart from making your own zimmerit. It’s also very easy to chip and gives sharp edges when chipped.

PS I see that meng suggests you use cyanoacrylate glue 'once the decal has dried out'...does anyone know what exactly they mean by this?
Probably the liquids used to soften the decals contain acetic acid that softens the cyanoacrylate glue too.

It's to lock down the edges of the decals so they don't peel up.

Strange, to use cyanoacrylate over the decals... sort of mess.

They’re not actual “decals” as unit numbers would be. They’re either resin sheets (as in ATAK zimmerit) or a similar plastic like Meng or Tamiya zimmerit stickers, or “decals”.
The CA glue goes under the sheets to hold them down to the surface. You’re essentially flying pre-cut sheets of zimmerit down onto the model surfaces.

Did you apply them directly onto the styrene or to primed surface?
