Hi guys,

Any chance of seeing an aftermarket Kongsberg 30 mm turret as being used on the Stryker Dragoon from 2 ACR ?

Are the Dragoons flat-bottomed hulled or of the newer V-hulled?

Trumpeter? No, thanks. AFV Club, please!

To be clear: New Trumpeter kits are very nice, but I'm specifically referring to Stryker kits. In my opinion AFV Club ones are much better.

Yes Pawel, you are right !
AFVClub has more details etc, then Trumpeter, but also has a higher price,
So one has to make a choice between price or quality !
Of course i could order an AFVClub item on the internet in China or HongKong
( cheaper price ) but Dutch Customs is very alert on shipments from abroad and they charge extra tax and VAT.
We will see if there ever will be an M1126 with Kongsberg turret.

Flat bottomed hull on the Infantry Carrier Vehicle - Dragoon (ICVD) http://www.dote.osd.mil/pub/reports/FY2017/pdf/army/2017strykericvd.pdf

“The ICVD integrates an unmanned turret with a 30 mm autocannon onto a flat-bottom Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle chassis with upgraded suspension and larger tires.”

Hi Greg,

Good news, now we don’t need a complete new model.
Just an aftermarket kit for suspension and turret.

According to the linked document:
"Initiated via a limited ONS, the ICVD is not a program of record. ...Assistant Secretary of the Army approves 81 Stryker ICVD vehicles for fielding to 2CR."

In normal speak, it has not been bought by the Army as a weapons system. It is based on a limited ONS (Operational Needs Stetement) by 2CR for a vehicle to deal with European-specific threats. The Army has only funded 82 to be built. If it becomes a program of record, I bet they would have to be built on V-hulls and to the latest standards as all other Strykers.

Too easy, Patrick. You may find this one of interest, as well: http://www.dote.osd.mil/pub/reports/FY2017/pdf/army/2017strykerdvha1ecp.pdf

I’ve read the annual reports from DOT&E every year since 2011 (yeah, I know). Definitely interesting information.

Gino, apparently a RFQ for a turret is anticipated to occur this year as part of a move to get a 30mm system as a program of record. The only requirement that is firm is the 30 x 173mm gun requirement. Will be an interesting competition to watch.

Hi,
I see that someone has made a comparison between the kits of Stryker of Trumpeter and AFV.
I'm building a kit of Trumpeter. Maybe it isn't the best one, but so it is.
Its painting instructions sheet suggests to paint it in uniform 'H303 light green' that is FS-34102 if I remember well.
I thought that contemporary US vehicles were painted in a darker shade, FS-34079 or something similar.
Is the instructions sheet right, or I have to choose another shade?
Thank you for any help.

If you have access to Tamiya paints, their NATO green XF-67 is the right paint for CARC green

Yeah Greg it's "too easy" finding that doc if you're crazy enough to read all those reports! 😀

As for the other doc you linked to covering the ICVV-A1, I actually have that one. Thanks for posting though, just to make sure.

The actual color is FS 34094 "Green 383" and indeed Tamiya XF-67 is a very good match, although for better scale effect I usually mix it 1:1 with XF-65 Field Grey (which in fact is also green) and add a little bit of white.

Thanks for the Tamiya equivalents for CARC green. I'll try both and see what appeals to my eye.
