Hello,
This is a strange question, but I'm wondering if anyone here knows if I'd be able to build an Eland-90 from Takom's AML-90, or if there were more changes to the design that I'm not noticing?

I've had the kit for a while now, but I havent found any solid information on how the two designs are different... If it matters, I dont particularly care about whether it's an early/late version that I'd build.
Thanks

They are the same vehicle, but there are detail differences. All I can say is to find photos (on-line or otherwise) of Elands.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for!
I might have to try that as a first use of scratchbuilding, as I've been meaning to figure that out (When I'm able*)

Edit: Also, Just noticed the cupola and different hubs on the Eland-90 due to those pictures too. Certainly a bigger conversion than I thought.

Interestingly, the Takom kit more closely resembles the second picture.

I've got those bookmarked now, thanks again!

Also, I dug out the Takom kit to check the rear hull, and it's certainly closer to the Eland picture than the AML-90. Is the Takom kit an early/export variant or something? As that does look pretty different... It does match up with a picture of the AML-90 in Latrun, if nothing else.

It also 'seems' like it's an Eland Mk.5 that I'd be trying to build, as it seems relatively unmodified, as it has no cupola/same hubs/same bins on the sides, no idea about the hull rear though...

Worst case, I'll have alot of scratchbuilding to do for a Mk.7, lol. It is the more interesting variant IMO... Not sure which I'm going with just yet, though.

EDIT: No luck with google (About earlier versions*), but I noticed that the Mk.7 has different tire tires too. Great.

The Takom kit is a true AML 90. The one in the picture shared by HP is a modified vehicle. The engine compartment is not of a standard AML. Maybe a local modification.

Hello
I work on "the eland" I will give you the differences that there with "the AML90" first at the back there is a large rectangular grid for cooling, at the rear wings there is U-shaped reinforcing bars at the turret, the commander's dome is equipped with episcopes, and the coaxial machine gun is a 30/30 browning;
I have pictures but I can not post them !!!!
I hope this will serve you
bye

Any updates? I want to do a Rhodesian Eland. So in same boat as you. The tires I have found out are Dunlops. Bugged DEF about making those. But he probably won't since technically the kit doesn't exist.
