Howdy mikaz,
Glad you found our site! Welcome aboard!!!
Now, to your question. I have the 'early' Trump Ti-67 kit (which is the same as the T-55 kit). And it is a good value for the money (I think I picked mine up on sale for $9.95). It does have the accomodations for 'motorization', meaning, it's got a little rectangular box inside the hull that awaits batteries.
The mouldings are a little on the 'soft' side, but as in almost anything else. With a little work, it can build up just fine.
Just so you are aware (I'm assuming you are in the market for a T-55 kit, but don't want to pay Tamiya's price). Italeri just came out with it's T-55 kit. Word is, that it's the Esci kit, with improvements. And, since the bloody thing is selling at my LHS (which is generally known for selling at above Retail) for (I think) around twenty buckola's......I would have to steer you in that direction.

I built the Trumpeter T-55 with dozer blade and found the kit to be a decent kit. There are a few fit problems but nothing that can't be fixed easily. The upper to lower hull pieces will fit together if you omit the plastic ring pieces on the lower inside front hull. Just glue the two pieces together and they will join up easy. The only major problem I had was with the dozer blade. I found that I was not able to build the blade to operate up and down because a couple of the arm brackets are too short to allow enough travel so I just assembled the blade and glued it in the position that I wanted. All in all for the money it is a good kit and I would build another one. I built this kit staright out of the box with no AM parts.

I am currently building the "Finnish" T-55 with Dozer blade as well as working on Tamiya's T-55. The Trumpeter kit is more work, but in all honesty, both vehicles will look very nice when finished...I plan on using them to see which of the members of my club can figure out which tank is from which manufacturer. I may even put the Trumpeter blade onthe Tamiya kit to confuse the issue a bit...

Shoot.. where was that comparison website....
I can't find the URL now, the a Japanese (Chinese?) guy did a comparison just before the Tamiya kit came out.
Short version
Skif is the worst. Poor dimensions, poor detail but it is the only one with even a semblance of an interior. Honestly though, what Skif puts in the box is only the barest representation of an interior.
Trumpeter is generally ok after the 'glue wont stick and screw the wheels on' first few kits.
Esci (now Italeri rebox.. I had not heard of new parts?) also ok, but older tech for the tooling
and the Tamiya kit is gernally accepted as the best, but also the most expensive.
My old Esci T55 w Verlineden Iraqi Boom armor is 90% done, the Tamiya T55 is done, the Trumpeter is going to donate parts for a SP Urban Assault vehicle kit. But like Jacques, I will probably put the dozer onto a second (third??) Tamiya kit.

Well i bought it now, because it was cheap and i was intrested to try out Trumpeterīs kit. I haven't started it yet, but all the details look pretty good. One thing i noticed was that the Finnish markings going to need little extra work, because blue circle wasnīt in the center of teh white circle.
Iīll tell you little more when i have started it out.
