Hello all, I am getting towards the end of the build process of Takom's 1/35 Tiran 4.
And well, there is a tube on the side of the turret that I cannot figure what is used for.
Maybe someone can enlighten me? Google could not help me there

It's a 60mm mortar.

It looks very much like a mortar.
"The Tiran 5 conversion includes: hollow cast turret with numerous IDF details cast in, empty bustle cast to the turret, IDF modified loaders and drivers hatch, 105mm gun tube. 60mm mortar and spare round box, commanders and loaders m.g. mounts, correct machine guns, .30 caliber and correct ammo boxes. "

According to https://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/israel/tiran.htm the 60 mm mortar came with the Tiran 5.

I hope some Tiran expert can clarify this.

I read about the mortar being listed, but I was not sure, since some pictures have it and other not, etc.

Talking IDF armor, I just got my hands on the newer Meng Merkava MK4 with the Trophy defense system, do you guys think it would be of interest for some if I tried to put up a thread with pictures and stuff around here?
I'm definitely not a super great modeler, but can put kits together well at least. Or probably someone more skillfull will take care of that?

Build logs are always interesting

Those who haven't got the kit can get information before deciding if the want to buy it or not.

If you build it really well then many can learn from it.
If not, there is always the chance that you can learn from it and develop your modelling skills further.

I think everyone has something to gain from it so go ahead

You are right, great then, I'll go ahead and try to do just that, taking inspiration from what I have seen here on the forum
Will have some time in the following days
