Getting close to wrapping this up. There are four metal springs that, according to the instructions, are placed on what appear to be elevating or recoil rods between the chassis and the cradle.

Per the diagram, one spring goes to the upper rod and the other to the matching rod sleeve. Are these supposed to overlap, pile up on top of each other, ??

Matt, the image you posted didn't really show the spring assemblies, on the base of the right side.

I've been cruising through Google images, and it seems the springs are stacked one upon the other, possibly with a circular plate between the upper and lower. Can't see for sure.

BALL SCREW AND EQUILIBRATOR ASSEMBLIES. That is the name from the TM which I just located.

The two springs do stack one on top of the other, but there is no plate between them.

Thank you Gino. That is the assembly which I was referring to, in the photo I posted.

Wobbly springs like that would probably end up earning the model builder a point deduction for sloppy workmanship

Thanks Matt and Gino. Robin, I believe you are spot-on, in that the 1:1 scale item would seem poorly presented when reduced to 1:35th. I will try to insert a thin shim between the two springs, keeping them from overlapping onto each other.

Very Interesting, thanks for the pics Gino.

Robin, a friend of mine had points deducted for the scratched built springs on a kettenkrad he built, because the spring coils were not an even diameter.... despite reference photos provided showing they are tapered on the real thing....
