Hello all,

I am looking for a replacement Tiger II stepped mantlet (not the cast one). Would anyone happen to know if anyone makes one out of resin or similar? Is there any way to get just the mantlet?

I'm not sure about aftermarket mantlets, but if your trying to replace a damaged or missing kit part, try contacting the kits distributor for your country. Or, contact the kit maker directly.

What kit are you needing the part for?

I am working on the Meng kit. Both of their mantlets lack sharp details. I have an old Dragon kit mantlet but it’s not aligned well enough. I’m trying to figure out what the path of least resistance is with regards to getting a decent stepped mantlet on this Meng Tiger.

No matter what mantlet I end up using, I have to rework it significantly because I am trying to use an Aber barrel designed for the old Tamiya kits. The mantlets will have to be drilled through.

Hi Carlos,

Thank you for the links! The second link is exactly what I was looking for.

Note:

Both the "smooth" and "stepped" manlets were cast and essentially the same. The difference between the two was that the ring on the "stepped" version was ground off the finished product.

I did not know that, thanks! Is it correct then that some later versions would have been cast completely without the grooves? Some of the ones I’ve seen show no grinding marks and they have casting pitting uniformly everywhere.
