Passing by a German farmhouse near the town of Schevenhütte, elements of the US Army’s 9th Infantry Division are moving up the line to engage German forces that have taken up positions in the nearby Hürtgen Forest. Ammunition, food, fuel and medical supplies have been hastily thrown into the back of Willey’s Jeeps and 2.5 ton trucks in order to fuel the quick advance. A tired driver sips on his cup of joe while a couple of GI’s wind their way up the road. Across the path is an ambulance orderly attached to the battalion surgeon talking shop with one of the platoon medics. It’s quiet now, but the action is going to be picking up soon. All in all, the fierce fighting in what will be known as the Battle of Hürtgen Forest will claim 33,000 American casualties and end in a painful stalemate.

Took a little trial and error but I figured out how to upload the photos. Lol.

Cheers!

Fine job all around. The pine trees look great and the sloppy, wet mud is convincing. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice work, my father-in-law always complained about the bone chilling mud.

Wow, thank you for the kind words everyone! I’ve been following a lot of very inspiring builds in these forums for a long time and the positive words are a great encouragement to me.

Justin,

Nice work! I feel miserable just looking at your very realistic mud! The chill comes through well. I like the composition of the scene. That fir tree made with air fern - do you have a model railroading background?

I look forward to your next posts.

Thank you very much! I’ve piddled around with scale modeling but never anything with this many moving pieces, I definitely learned a lot from the build. I actually never have done any work with model railroading, but I do enjoy looking at what others have done.
