Hi guys.

Does anybody by any chance have a list of losses with turret numbers for the 101st S.Pz.Abt for June 1944?

I'm not sure if such a list exists but if anyone knows, please could you let me know?

Thanks!

According to Tigers in Combat II:

13.06.44: 112, 121 and another one are lost, all from 1st Company

15.06.44: 4 Tiger of the 3rd company lost plus Wendt's 1st Company vehicle

16.06.44: 111 is lost

24.06.44: Two tanks lost

27.06.44: Warmbrumm's tank is lost

28.06.44: 331, 334 and Möbius are lost.

There must be more information somewhere but at least this is a start...

Gracias Carlos!

That is certainly helpful. I'm particularly interested in any losses up to 13 June 1944 for 1st Kompanie...ie on their march to the Normandy frontline.

I believe they came under constant attack by fighter bombers en route and am trying to find out if any of their Tigers were lost en route.

Hi Mike,
Seems there were not. Attacked several times but no one lost for this reason on route before the 13th.

That day losses from 1st company were due to Firefly and anti tank gun fire.

On the other hand, the four tanks lost by the 3rd company on 15th of June were because of a night heavy air strike near Evrecy

Hi Mike,

the correct designation for the for the unit you are talking about is as follows:
Schwere SS-Panzerabteilung 101 and the abreviation is

Rocket-firing Typhoons, etc. were not particularly effective against most armor. Out of a salvo of 8 rockets, the pilot would be lucky to get one hit, and even then, fired from a low angle, the rocket usually tended to ricochet, or skip off horizontal surfaces. In any case the warhead was never proven to defeat a Tiger l's armor. Could really mess up support vehicles, though. No Tigers were lost en route from Paris to Normandy, but there were several break-downs from over-heating, and broken tracks.
