I am thinking about building a 3rd ID humvee from 2003 - likely an M-1025 with either a M2 or MK40 grenade launcher. I was thinking about starting with an Academy M-996 as base as it has TOW missile canisters which I can use for the Bradley I am also building.
Is this the best way to go? Also would the Legend humvee details set be appropriate for the model type and the time period?

Thanks!

Throw away this Academy's [auto-censored] and go with Tamiya's M1025 or M1046.
This Legend's set is for M1151.

I second Kuba`s opinion. Tamiya kit with maybe some AM resin tires far more easier to build than the Academy release.

I built both the academy and tamiya 1025's side by side. Was building my two vehicles from 9th ID, which were modified to carry our ECM and ESM gear. The Tamiya kit was more accurate as a base M1025 and built up much better than the academy kit.

The Tamiya Hummers are the way to go, but they still have the old PRC for a radio.
I would get Mike G's radio's from Shapeway:
SINCGARS
There are great after market sets for the Tamiya Hummers available.
