Hello all. I've been hunting for a glosscoat that will aid with the application of decals and also act as a protective layer for weathering techniques. I've tried Future Vallejo, Alclad and Microscale to name a few but never found anything I was ever really happy with. Until now! I've just finished spraying a gloss varnish from Vantage Modelling Solutions (VMS)www.vms-supplies.com and WOW!!
Easy to spray - I use 20psi and add 2 drops of thinner to 8 drops of varnish. Sprays like a dream and super even coverage. A quick blast with the hair dryer and I'm left with a really high gloss, crystal clear surface with no issues whatsoever. Very quick shipping from Poland and my only grip is that I didn't get a bottle of the matt finish at the same time
I have no affiliation with VMS just a new convert to their range of goodies!

I used Vallejo Airbrush thinner. I have just laid down decals and the finish is flawless. I understand that VMS are having a sale tomorrow via their website. I will be ordering the matt finish for sure!

Tamiya X22 thinned with X20A thinner (or levelling thinner if you don't mind the smell) works just great.

I watched a Youtube video, where the presenter recommends spray a very light coat of lacquer thinner on the model, before the gloss coat. Basically, the lacquer thinner melts the paint and causes it to level. Be careful, too much will eat through your top coat.
