I noticed on the Tamiya kit, after I positioned the idler tensioners as noted in the instructions, the left side Idler seems a tad lower that the other sides' idler.
I'm assuming they could have been at different tensions, but is this normal or should I just readjust the tension to raise right idler to the next 'notch"?
Just want to make sure its correct

You will be correct either way. I try to keep them at the same position, that way the tracks will have the same fit.
It has been a while since I built a Tamiya E8, but I think the position was a bit unclear. The E8 idler mounts are the same for left and right, with the right flipped 180. I think that is where the position problem comes up.

Although it is VVSS, at one time (and possibly still now) one of Bovington’s exhibits (M3 Medium, I think) had one idler in the high position and one in the low. Track tension was presumably the same but it did look odd from the rear.

Are you talking about the idler wheel or the idler bracket?

I meant the idler wheel - I ended up just setting the them exactly where Tamiya says in the diagram.
