From what I've gleaned the PZB 200 Image Intensifier was used as an interim night vision until the thermal imaging for the Leo 2 was ready. They were then handed down to the Leo 1s. They were used on A1, A2, and A3. I know Bundeswehr used them. I saw photos of a Greek Leo with one., and mention of Turkish Leos being equipped, but no photos. Did any other Leo 1 operators retrofit their tanks with PZB 200s?

PZB200 wasn't handed down to Leopard 1. It was standard equipment for a time (Leopard 1A1A1, 1A2, 1A3) pending the introduction of thermal imaging on 1A5. Thermal imaging was not available for the start of Leopard 2 production, so the first production Leo 2s were equipped with it - but not for very long.
Canada used PZB200 as well. Chile had the cages fitted (second hand machines) but not sure if they actually used it. Norway had it on hand-me-down 1A1A1s (1A1NO).
The white light searchlight WAS retained.

Ah. Here is what caused the confusion. "A further upgrade in the 1980s added leftover image-intensifier night sights, which were being handed down from the Leopard 2 as they were themselves upgraded. " (Wikipedia) Add the crumb about the Leo 2s using them while the bugs were worked out of the thermal sights....

It's a 1A3 - or GR1 to be accurate. Don't believe everything you read on Wikipedia.
