While doing a google search for modern figures I came across a series of 1/35 figures by a company called Tobyfancy that only seem to be available on a site called aliexpress. The image show figures in modern SF gear with a level of detail similar to the most recent offerings from Live Resin and Legend. Had anyone actually bought these figures? Are they as good as they look online?
Thanks
Brian

Aliexpress is a division of Chinese millionaire- owned Alibaba. They are most likely black market clones.

They are figures made from bits and pieces stolen from other manufacturers and assembled to look "original " Tobyfancy...

They are awesome figures, I have purchased heaps of the modern SEALs as they are excellent action poses. Great quality and awesome detail. A lot of members on here canned them but as I say if you don’t like it/ them then don’t buy them. A modern spec ops figure shipped to my front door for $11 Australian dollars is great! I still support the other manufacturers but if I can get get the cheaper copy and I have to be honest their recasts in Resin are actually better than some of the original manufacturers finished products.

the quality can be good...but they steal the hard work of people who do this job with passion, sweat and tears, for me give money to this scammers are wrong, especially because they are niche products that do not make those who produce them legally a rich bisinnesman, then we complain when a producer closes the businnes ... also because when he closed the recaster have no more from whom to copy....my 2 cents

I agree that a company recasting parts from others work and then selling them needs to be jumped on and when pointed out should be made to change their ways by purchase power. The only positive I can see with this outfit is that the figures are not being sold as direct copies of the original but in altered poses. The Chinese have a long history of copying others and then making changes to make it their own. This would seem just such a case and before anyone jumps on me I am not a supporter of this practice.

Ah, yeah CMK does the same, mostly with Alpine figures.

Hi Jason, sorry to say that, but I completely disagree with you. I made this mistake once, buying cheap figs from Resineasy on Ebay, without knowing at that time that they were copies of originals. Now that I am aware of that, I only buy from regular sellers or even better, directly from the artist or manufacturer.
It's not a matter of liking/buying, it's more a way for me to encourage sculptors and show the respect I have for their work.
I prefer to buy less, but to the right people.

I really hope you work all week and then somebody else gets your wages, you'd then get to know how it feels, because that's exactly what these re-casters are doing.

I bought several figure sets, from Aliexpress, before I knew they were recasts. The result?, several sets of untouched figures, in my stash. I can't bring myself to toss them and certainly not to sell them. I relate it to buying a product, having it shipped to the wrong address, and being told "too bad". This hobby can be expensive, but that is the price we pay.
