Hello,
I have the Tamiya panzer iv D kit in the stash and I want to start building it. Problem is the kit drive sprocket is too wide - it's for the later 40cm tracks.
I've tried to order the correct width drive sprocket from Friulmodel without success.
Do any other AM manufacturers sell the drive sprocket for the panzer iv D? Or better yet does anyone have a couple knocking around in their spares box? I would be happy to pay for them.
Cheers
Matthew

Hi Matthew,
Historex appear to have the correct Friulmodel sprocket in stock (KFT (AW03) 36cm sprocket for pz IV A, B, C & D).

Your best bet is the Tristar panzer IV running gear kit. If you can't find it I have the kit and do not need the D wheels as I don't have any D kits. Maybe you could send me some decals or a couple of old figures.
Oops just realized you want sprockets, sorry!

Or you can buy the sprockets directly from Friulmodel:
http://www.friulmodel.hu/en/aw-03-pz-iv-a-d-i168/
Cost is 5 EUR, shipping to UK will be another 5-7 EUR(I'm guessing though).
I've ordered last year a brand new track set- that was still not available at my usual webstores- directly from them.
It arrived in BG in less than a week.

I always order direct from Friulmodel. Never had a problem.

I would be reluctant to spend any time or money on the Tamiya kit. Once you;ve replaced tools, tracks, and suspension, and added photo etch, it would probably be more cost effective to just grab the Dragon or Hobby Boss (ex Tristar) Panzer IV D.
The Tamiya kit was based on their motorized Panzer IV H kit from 1975, and has serious dimensional issues to suit the motorization. On-vehicle tools were chunky, mounting holes were huge, and the non-skid pattern on the mudguards was overdone.
