Robin, better talk to Greg above...
it will take a lot of cold Swedish winter hibernation years to work through that inventory.

At one time I had 800+ kits. I realized that my collections (not just models) owned me, so I started to sell my kits at the local model club (you can see my back at one of the meetings at the Silicon Valley Scale Modelers website).

The stash is down to 80, mostly kits I started already. This is why I have joined just about every unfinished kit campaign. Of course hardly any of the kits are "shake'n'bake". Many ejection pin marks and sink holes to fill.

Then there's that old Mortality thing. I'm 61 and had 3 mild strokes, but none for a few years. I told myself I am not buying any more kits until I've finished some. But books are another thing.

Glad to hear your health is holding on. I've only had a couple of mild heart attacks, mostly due to my family recent mortalities.

Boy you guys are way ahead of me.I think 120 to 130, they are in all the upstairs closets,
And some even in 1/6 scale about 5.
Yep as I am at 63 and kind of retired at the moment, well and at the rate I build ,would have to live as long as Robin 200 years to get them built. And 300 plus jars of paint and growing monthly, wife said she would be throwing them out, I said a big loss to you Honey , as that 1/16 scale Tamiya Tiger I static display goes for big bucks. And that 1/6 scale Sherman.Think might look into giving them to my town's Military museum, a real nice one on Main Street, and to the old Vet's home.

Hi Stuart (polite subdues clap).
Thanks for sharing.
I just peeked at my recently reduced stash, and it's around 30 boxes with complete kits, and another 20 or so that have parts out of them. I was proud of myself lately, the LHS had a Tamiya Leclerc on consignment, and I had it in my hand for a whille but put it back before I checked out. I had to just say "No". Or abstain. Or something like that. The thing is, I'm 61, semi-retired, and realize I have more kits now than I could ever think about completing in my lifetime. My wife knows who to give them too also.
My display case is full, and I'm also in the stage of either boxing up old models to make room for the new, or just disassembling them for parts. I had a party a few years ago, when we sold our business and got out of the hobby our business was catering to, and called it "T'anks for the Memories". Everyone who showed up had to take a tank model home with them. I have quite a few friends that still have a tank model on their desk....

Ok so many kits, so little space and time. I want to help as best as I can so I am looking for Dragons Pzkfw IV mid kit # 6611. If you feel over burdened I would like to help you reduce the pile. PM me.

500+ kits. Many (maybe about 80) are figure kits. Rest are vehicle, aircraft, ships and sci-fi.
I had to create an excel sheet as well to track which large moving box they were in.

I keep my stash organized in Scalemates, and putting it there gave me a lot of pause. 672 full kits, down from 747 at the beginning of this year, which considering I have bought a number of Wishlist kits this year, means I am down about 100 kits for the year.

Over the last few years, I have helped dispose of the stash of 4 departed modelling friends and that really helps concentrate the mind.

This thread got me counting how many I have. I wouldn't have believed it, but I have over 50! I know that's not many compared to most of you, but that's a lot more than I would have estimated before counting. And, I'm even thinking of expanding the stash, but not into more armor, instead, into airplanes. I have I have 4 planes now, and one helicopter, but I've been reading great things about a certain model manufacturer who makes the best 1/48 Phantom II kits, and I'm seriously thinking about getting one of those. Planes were the kits that I loved as a kid, and I'd really like more, though, frankly, they terrify me with the need for far more care in building than tanks, at least in my humble opinion. That's why I haven't built any of the airplane models I already have...

I think I have around 300 now.

A few years ago I suffered a bout of common sense and sold down a collection of 200 kits or so to 40 must keep kits.
Since then, I have pushed it back up to 300.

Close to retirement, I realize the limitations of time and space will prevent me from getting thru the pile, but at least my pension won't take a hit buying more kits.

Cabasner: Are you going, with the Academy kit? I will be building one of those, as deployed by the 188th Fighter Wing. Luckily, decals are available for the F-4C, A-10 and F-16C(all of which were flown by the Flying Razorbacks).

I used to build planes, before my long break and a couple right after I started back up. I think 3-4 aircraft should satisfy my need to step away from armor. I have three KT and a PLA Leopard, on order. I'm hoping to see them, by the end of the month. This hobby keeps my wallet light.
