Hello all,
I was wondering if any would know if the French WW2 tanker helmet would have been used into the late 1950s and early 60s, around the time of the Algerian war. Also what would the tanker uniform look like. I'm building the Italeri/Heller M24 Chaffee/AMX-13 prototype vehicle and wanted to put a figure with it. I can't seem to find anything online and don't have any references. Thanks in advance for your help.

the French tanker helmet was used until1944 (armistice army) then it is the US tank helmet then for Algeria the helmet consisted of a shell and a removable earplug

This pic from 1959 in Algeria looks like a standard paratrooper helmet.

The tanker helmet used from 1951 until 1965 was called "Sous-casque radio char Modèle 51" :



It was a shell designed to fit inside an infantry Modèle 51 TTA helmet like the one below if needed :

Hi Guys,
Thanks a ton.....I came across a black and white picture of a French tanker on a Chaffee, but the picture was of such poor quality and I couldn't tell what type it was. Does any one know if this helmet is made in plastic or resin? I couldn't find it among the Hornet range of resin heads..
I am using a Royal model Italian tanker in overalls and just need to swap out the head. The overalls look like something many armies would have used...
