According to Scalemate, Hobby Fan made one in resin & metal, but costs €108.

I also find the vehicle interesting. However, Academy is the only manufacturer that makes it in plastic, but had some scale issues

Hi Frederick,
€108 is indeed rather steep, but in your hometown, HobbyEasy has the HF Ontos at HK$565 (although presently out of stock) which equals appr. €158/US$72 which appears a more atractive price

LionMarc, Passion and Voyager (pe) make metal barrel sets you can use to replace them. In the squadron M50 book it shows an Ontos transport by helicopter with the barrels removed and plywood in front as a fake tractor otherwise the helo would take more fire if it barrels, according to the text.

I picked up the Hobbyfan Ontos on clearance at a local hobby shop a few years back. I like the finished model, but being my first all resin kit of that type, it was interesting to build, as there was quite a bit of warping in the lower hull.
The tracks in particular were a challenge, as I had to cut individual links off some of the resin lengths to get them to fit.
There was no chance for an interior as the upper hull was basically solid resin.
The metal barrels were quite nice looking though.
