Is Revell's 1/72 T72 M1:

a good representation of an early 2000's "Lion of Babylon" Iraqi tank, or is there a better one?

It's the only game in town in 1/72, although ACE may have one. Not a bad little kit, it looks like it's patterned after Tamiyas 1/35 version as it shares the same turret errors but also includes 6 and 8 spoke road wheels.

While no expert for sure basically the "Lion of Babylon" essentially became the Iraqi copy of the T-72M1 and was to mimic its battlefield form and function exactly. Actually IIRC it was a copy of the one made by Poland. You can read more about it HERE. The 1/72 kit appears nicely done and fair representation of the tank. It comes with decals and specific parts to make an Iraqi tank used in 1991 as part of the "Saladin" armoured division during Desert Storm.

Thanks. I thought Model Collect made one, but I guess I was wrong.
