When there is a turret like MCTAGS mounted on the roof, what happens to the original hatch lid ?

The cover for the hole on the roof is either on or off. It does not open and close. When a weapons mount is attached, the cover is unbolted and left off.

Ok. Thank you Gino.

And as there is a gap between the roof and the turret mount, is the wind and the rain rush inside the cab ?

Yes, there is a gap. There is a fabric weather cover that can be installed, but it is useless if you are standing out of the hole to man the weapon. You can see below that there is an armor plate below the mount, but it is not watertight. The USMC is an outdoor sport; you will get wet and dirty.

Many thanks for your answers.

Actually, Gino Marines are amphibious. They're meant to get wet and dirty. Full credit for that pearl of wisdom goes to SGM David Howell of the 25th Marines, we had a young Reservist Lance Corporal ask over the radio what he was supposed to do when he encountered a flooded area during a training exercise. SGM was former Recon and had come to us from 3/4 Marines on his twlight tour. That was the most printable part of his reply... never ask SGM stupid questions before he has finished his coffee if you value your life or hearing

All good points. If it ain't raining, it ain't training was one ditty the Sgt's would like to say as we moved out to the field. You have to lean in and imbrace the suck.
