I'm building the Takom KT as the initial prototype ,
This requires deleting the radio operators periscope sight line relief at the top of the glacis by installing this piece :
I assume since it is missing that grooving that is present along the top edge of the glacis that I should smooth out the remainder to match ?
Thanks

Yep. Fill those gaps in. The indentation on production king tigers was added after experience from the prototypes.

Cool , thanks .
I already smoothed out those grooves judging by the driver's side relief in that Bovington photo .
What's up with those grooves anyway ?

It's a mystery I suppose- an attempt at torch cut effects by takom or maybe a bug in the tool. Good luck with your KT!

Ha ha -- I just need to get some reference material .
Plenty of books on the Panther !
There must be that groove detail on later hulls

I have the KT with zimmerit and those grooves go all the way across, including the dips for the periscopes. I was thinking it was zimmerit? Otherwise it makes no sense.

Ah - it's Zimm ?
Makes more sense ,,, I don't see tooling up and cutting grooves into that top edge for ANY reason

Cutting marks from the beveling of that edge? Rain control channels to keep the water out of the bow gun? Zimmerit? Naw, zimmerit wasn't placed on horizontal surfaces.

Seems an odd way to bevel an edge, and useless as rain channels. Maybe Takom can explain what the reason is. They've done some odd things in the past.
