Hi. Can anyone tell me what Chinese tank(s) are in the famous picture of the studentprotest in 1989 on the Tiananman square?

Type 59 (59式)
Trumpeter, Takom and Italeri made Type 59s in plastic 1/35 kits. Takom seems like the best deal...
Just FYI.

Assuming you are referring to the image that amoz02t posted. Seems that Trumpeter named their kit -B based on the inclusion of the 105mm version. This is what I've found on a model subject like this:

If you can find it, this is the kit you might want to look for - https://www.scalemates.com/kits/1003224-takom-2069-chinese-medium-tank-type-59-69-2-in-1
I have one in my stash and plan to do one that was involved with the taking of the presidential palace during the fall of Saigon.
Cheers

Thanks. If I decide to make the dio this will be the one to use.
A museum asked me to make it but building 5 simular tanks is not very "inspiring".
Need to find thisone too in 1/35 scale

That will be difficult, probably impossible ...
Scratchbuilding or maybe cheating with a 1/32 bus from Aoshima

That 1/32 sounds good. Since it's half burned and wrecked that won't be too difficult.

By the way, in the original picture these tanks have some big device on the turret.
It's packed in canvas. Is that included in the kit and what is it?
You surely have guessed I'm not tankman.....

To mee it looks like the heavy machine gun by the commanders hatch. On the left side of the turret when viewed from the front like in that film.
Standard equipment, included in Takom kit nr 2069

Yep, that's it. The cover should not be the problem.
Well, googling for the right figure in front of it but I guess after naming the costs of this project they"ll back off.....

Maybe they could rethink their plans and go for something less than the whole Tiananmen square....
Maybe just the man and one single tank ...

Yep, suggested that to the museumguy. Seems he liked the suggestion. Well, I'm going to think about it too. Not much of a tankbuilder. If you look at my website there's only one tank there...

You don't necessarily have to use the Type 59 tank:
https://armorama.kitmaker.net/forums/251657&page=1
Bronco makes variations of the Type 63, several of which would be usable for that era.

Oke, I'm making progress with the diorama. On the second and third tank it appears there is a canvas cover on the back of the tank. I have been searching but can't find better pictures. Does anybody know what these where, what they were covering and where they are situated on the back of the tank. In this picture it's the brown cover. The green is covering the machine gun

Thanks. Now the 1/72 diorama of this event is getting along nicely I have decided to do a 1/35 version for myself.
I just ordered the figure and I guess the Takom box will be the best for the tank. I don't like the trumpeteer tracks.
But......I'm confused about the Takom barrel so please, help me out.
Looks like the one on chinese square it the 105mm barrel.
I found a metal one made by Barrel Depot on ebay but would it fit the Takom model?
I'm no tank"man" so I need your help here.
Does anyone know if there are some spare tracks in the box since the chinese ones on the square have some on the front of the tank (and a small lamp (?) on the right site too ).
There's very little aftermarket stuff for this model, like PE, as far as I can "google"...

Trumpeter makeas a Type 59B with the proper barrel. Can't attest to the quality, but it is the right type.
