G'day everyone, i was wondering, what tanks did we use in new guinea, i know we had the stuart, but did we use the lee/grant and matilda there too? Also who makes aussie tanks in 1:72, well actuall;y, who makes the stuart in 1:72, and any other aussie ww2 tanks?

We also used the Matilda in New Guinea. Go to the main Gallery AFV ref. Then roo/'s truck archieve. You will see a section there that has lots of tanks. Mainly matilda and other Aussie tanks.

No one makes an Australian version of the Matilda. Tamiya does a 1/35 scale one (resently rereleased) and then you have to purchase resin AM sets to convert it. Firestorm in Australia are doing some conversion kits now including the Australian style tracks.

3 shermans and 3 Churchills were also trialed in New Guinea but these were manned and controlled by the British.

The Shermans were trialed here in Queensland too against Matildas.

The only 1/72 scale Stuart is made by Hasegawa. Esci did a Valentine, Hasegawa also did the Churchill.
