This is something that I have been working on - Ugandan M1 c1978-1979.
Base kit is the Italeri M4A1. Roadwheels and idler are Tamiya as are the figures.
Lousy photos. Will try and do better in sunlight tomorrow rather than a poorly lit room. Just saying.

Very good. Maybe one of the crew has a mummy or is even a daddy.
Mummy is part of this 60mm vignette yet to be started ie undercoat and painted.
And should end up looking something like this. Or as Shakespeare would say "Life is but a stage and we are all players on that stage". Or something like that.

Looking great with this oldie.I am going to start on a Ugandan M1 myself using the Tasca kit. Those Ugandans had to been brave during that Uganda-Tanzania War being in those old Shermans facing the Type 59 tanks Tanzania was operating.

All the best with the Tasca M1.
There are so many variances amongst the M1s of Uganda. I rather fancied one with HVSS however they sold out of the donor kit I was going to use. Plus I figured if I stuffed the Italeri kit up I could wear the cheaper kit. Come from being of Scot descent. Crew is converted figure from tank, Tamiya US command crew.
Also have a Type 59 tank complete with Tanzanian AC Models African tank crew. This set from AC Models is based on a well known pic of the Uganda Tanzanian War. A real expensive set of figures.
So all in all one cheap M1 with crew and one rather expensive Type 59 with crew. Go figure.

Rod,
Be careful with the old Italeri M4A1 kits. The tracks are so stiff they raise the front road wheel off the ground, and I can see in your picture that this has happened with your kit. The cure is different tracks or to glue the front suspension arms in place to force the tracks into the right curvature around that first road wheel.

Al not sure about Ugandan M51's. Some of the M1's had HVSS suspension. If anyone knows of a site that has pics of Ugandan M51's I sure would appreciate the info.
heck out these very good sites:
Idi Amin’s Shermans
Esoteric Armour: Ugandan M4A1(76)W / M1 Sherman

Just out of curiosity, why is Bob Cratchit along on the expedition?
