Which will be a more accurate, the Tristar kit or Dragons new retooled smart kit? At this point, the cost is not an issue.

The accuracy is on the tristar side, but comes with a higher part count, multi piece bottom hull, tracks on sprues. So a lot of cleanup and dry fitting. Dragons new kits are underwhelming, but look the part. I dont think they fixed the barrel issue mentioned in pmms comparison review.

The new re-tooled Dragon kit is actually more along the lines of a Tamiya simplified engineering kit, not the hyper detailed Dragon kits we've come to expect.

There are a pile of little bits Dragon got wrong on the their Pzkpfw IV D that Tristar got right.

I don't even know how much real "Dragon" is in that kit considering it was part of Platz's Girls Und Panzers bs.

Dragon has other D versions, but they may be OOP.

Tristar, now named HobbyBoss as other said, has a reboxed Panzer D kit (80132). Just in case you don't aware and spend too much time to find the older release that Bravo1102 suggested.

Many modelers have complained of Tristar fit issues, but the problems are only there if you cause them. Careful clean-up is required, and Tristar's chamfered joints are tricky, but with some care a great model can be produced. I would also go with Tristar.
