I am sure you can, it might just be a ballbuster to get them with no air bubbles. I know most people hand paint numerals when the vehical has Zimmerit.

Eduard makes mask to stick on the model and airbrush paint through. Link below.
They make numbers, crosses, letters, divisional markings, etc.

I have decalled over zimmerit before and yes it can be done ...the trick is patience and a bottle of solvaset...this stuff will make any decal dissappear, but be careful and try it out on a scrap decal before you use it ..I have seen it do some strange things to some decals..."Where'd it go???"lol

I put decals over zimmerit about a month ago using microset and microsol, and I am very imressed indeed. I had Italeri´s bergetiger as a guniea pig. It comes with its own zimmerit also. I sprayed on johnssons over the whole model. The next day i painted the decal area with microset, then placed decal, then painted over with microsol. After half an hour I went back and painted microsol very carefully again. When i checked the next day they were perfect!
This bergetiger is almost finished. Look out for pictures in the next week. You can check the results then!

I also used the micro-set and micro-sol. They worked well. It took a lot of applications though.

Hi. Just a new guy sticking in his 2 cents worth. Go with the Micro-Sol, etc, and then paint over them with flat acrylic. Also, if you haven't already applied the zimmerit, try this for a neat applicator:
. Tear the cut-off strip from a box of aluminum foil, plastic wrap, etc. and cut easy to handle pieces, or attach a piece to a flat craft stick for a handle. This gives you real good ridge detail and is just about to scale for 1/35. Hope this helps.
