OK I know it's a little bit and maybe I'm pushing it a bit too far but I'm looking for good reference pics (dimensions would be fine too..) of the red and white cylindrical cooler (with 2 handles and a "corrugated" covering) usually carried by M113 and Abrams crews in the field. I already have a few OIF pics showing some but I've searched the Web for more to no avail, as I don't know the manufacturer (AFAIK it' not Coleman...)
TIA

I don't think coolers an such are issued by the military, It may be a private purch. item so it could be a coleman cooler.

Wow that's fast ! I agree with you I don't think it is a "Government Issued" item but the fact is that it seems to be quite ubiquitous on the Iraqi battlefield...I've searched Coleman website in vain
The search's not over !

They are probably Igloo brand: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/hunting-fishing-inc/igbeco.html
I don't know who makes a model of a plastic cooler, but a good representation of a stainless steel Igloo beverage cooler can be found in the Academy "AFV Miniature Accessories: Tank Supplies Set II."

The above mentioned stainless Igloo cooler in the Academy accesory set can easily be made into a modern plastic orange/white version. Simply sand the lower edge rounded and paint white and orange. It comes out pretty good. I did mine below just that way. Look on the rear of the Warrior MICV.

Actually, we do have that type available in the supply system. We get either the orange/white made by Rubbermaid or a brown/white type. Same concept, just slightly different design. The white lid is flat on the Rubbermaid design.

Rob -- like this one?
Seems like we used the stainless ones in the 60s and 70s (called them "silver bullets") and the plastic ones began appearing in the 80s and 90s.

You can find anything you need on Armorama, even cooler experts ! That's really COOL ! Thanks to all for the pics. The cooler I'm looking for appears to be a Rubbermaid item. Here are some pics "in situ" :

This is the exact one we get through the supply system. All it says is Rubbermaid Drinking Water in white writing. The brown/white ones we have are non-name brand with no markings at all and look a little pudgier. It has 5 gallons embossed on the bottom.Frenchy

Thanks for the added info Rob. Now all I have to do is finding a way to represent the corrugations in 1: 35 scale, but that's another story.....
