I am planning to make a USMC M1114 shown in the first photo using the Live Resin MCTAGS turret, Bronco kit CB35080 and the Perfect Scale Modellbau conversion set 35092. PSM recommends using the Bronco kit CB35080 but my question is, did the USMC M1114 with that specific conversion set have the bottom armor as in the other Bronco kit CB35092 shown on the instruction sheet in photo #4?





This is the instruction sheet from the Bronco kit CB35092 showing the PE armor P54, P56 and P57 to be added. Bronco kit CB35080 doesn't include those PE parts. Would I need those PE armor parts for the USMC M1114 shown in the first photo?

If you take a look at this Hi-Res version of the original picture, it seems that the add-on armor plate is visible...

Thanks H.P.! I found these images from the Perfect Scale Modellbau site and the first image shows they provide the armor for the front but none for the rear as seen in the second photo. I could copy the rear ones from plastic sheet from the PE in the Bronco kit CB35092.

Don't forget about missing underbody armor (present in all real M1114s, omitted in all Bronco's models). Please take a look at my WIP thread:

M1113 and M1114 are based on the same 'platform'. But M1151 is different, that's why I've scratchbuilt armor shown at photos above and I couldn't use PE sets for M1151 available on the market.
You can use only some minor elements from M1151 kit - these bars protecting brake discs.

One more thing: Bronco made huge mistake in their M1114s - a hole for a turret in a roof is molded too close to the front. And it looks a little bit odd with MCATGS moved to the back. I've changed it in my model.

Not sure how much more I am going to put into the USMC M1114. I already have the Live Resin MCTAGS turret and the PSM conversion set. My models will just be shelf sitters so not much of the underside will be seen so I probably won't get as detailed as you.

About Live Resin MCTAGS, I had some difficulties to build it. Resin doesn't glue well, armor panels don't fit well.

Too much parts in my minds.

On the other side, for the MTVR, Live Resin forgets to include new mounts for the turret base. Trumpeter ones become too short with the installation of the MCTAGS.

However, the Legend Productions MCTAGS looks more complicated.

Hi Alex, thanks for the reply. I have built the Live Resin MCTAGS and SAG turrets and the fit at the rear section has a slight gap. You can see the gaps on mine. They went together OK on mine. I used Starbond odorless thin CA with mine but it needs an activator. I also noticed some parts were really brittle and cracked even when I used a brand new blade or a PE micro saw. Both guns are dry fitted to see how they looked on the turrets.

Did the USMC use the extended tail pipe on their M1114's when deployed in either Iraq or Afghanistan? I found one photo showing the extended tail pipe but it looks like state side training.

Looking at that photo and others I actually think Bronco got the position of the turret right. On pictures of the inside of the roof you can see that the turret sits much farther back than the M1025/M1045 turret. The turret on the M1114 looks like it sets closer to the vehicle's center of gravity. Thank you for the photo Terence.

Hi Eric, I tested the Live Resin MCTAGS turret on the Bronco kit but the hole in the roof is too small for the turret to fit. I will have to widen the hole a bit. When testing it though, the position might be a tiny bit too far back when compared to the photo I showed but not by much. When I get to the point of mounting it I will just leave it as is.
