Hope this comes true. I'd buy one. Never heard of the company and no mention of a Nike-Herc on their website but they do mention a 1/48 Curtis Hawk III

I just saw thier Curtis Hawk today at my LHS, it's pretty darn nice with lots of extras-- if the Nike-Hercules is the same quality it will be really nice. Stevens International and Sprue Brothers are the Distributors in the US.

Looking forward to this new release. I can run several side-by-side and show daily checks being performed outside Anchorage, AK, with Charlie Battery, 1/43 ADA, from 1979. Throw some snow on the ground and place a moose just outside the perimeter fence for scale effect!

I really want to make a tracked version of this, like some of the big Soviet SAM launchers. I think the Nitto M8 tractor would be a good base?

A wheeled version may be doable as well, using Perfect Scale Modellbau GOER kit as a starting point :

Someone has scratchbuilt it in 1/72nd scale :

ummmmm.......
That Nitto kit is not among the top 90% of kits I have come in contact with ....
It could be a base but sourcing the running gear and tracks from some M41 Walker Bulldog and scratching the rest might just be easier?

No KC, that was Site Summit on the mountain, C Battery was across Cook Inlet, south of Wasilla. Goose Bay.

HP - I was not aware of a Nike TEL! Here I was thinking I'd come up with an original "what-if" idea :-) Thanks for posting those photos.

You're being too kind - the Nitto / Bluetank M8 is atrocious :-) I doubt much of it would remain after the conversion. Alternatively, maybe a European nation (NL, Belg) Nike-Hercules mounted on a Centurion hull, or a German missile on a M48 or Leopard 1?

That's because there wasn't any. The GOER vehicle was an experiment and simply a "T". I don't know how the missile got from the truck to the launcher, but the M36 was always the "EL" part.

When you consider that the GOER had no suspension beyond the tires, you can see that it was not a good match for carrying the NIKE-Hercules with its 1950s-1960s pre-solid state electronics.

The missile had a dedicated transport trailer, but it was not a Tel. There’s one at the Fort Lewis museum, with a missile on board. I think it’s an M259 trailer. Four dual wheels, steerable front axle

Well, looks like the amphibious capability of the GOER was not a consideration with the Nike Herc installed.... Yeah, the TACOM "what-if" attempt to move forward with the GOER implementation into the fleet.

The oversize tires and an air-ride driver seat, that's all, folks! And Lord, you could hear them coming from a looong ways off, whining all the way.

This might be a use for that black label M103 or Conqueror that's otherwise wrong in so many ways.

The first Soviet missile tractors were IS heavy tanks. So only reasonable a NATO one would be on a heavy tank chassis like the M103 or Conqueror.

I did a lot of research on the Goer with the Nike on it because I was going to scratch build it a long time ago. but more information was not available at the time and it has an experimental mounting with launcher on the Goer model XM437E1 16 ton.

The Perfect Scale Modellbau GOER is only 10 ton and a lot smaller in size.

Its still great news that there is going to be a 1/35 scale model of the Nike.

Thank you for the pictures Frenchy. three pictures I have never seen before.

Great suggestions - a Nike on an M103 and a Bloodhound on a Conqueror!
