US machine guns but 3 of the 4 mounts along the top look like IDF designs, may lead to some confusion.

Look at the parts. The box art mounts are Israeli but more typical US cradles look to be there.

Yep, I did look at the parts. Typical US cradles as well as typical IDF cradles. Neither the box nor the instructions mention this, hence the possibility of someone putting an IDF cradle on a US vehicle.

And previous sets often mixed World War II and post war mounts so there are some kits of World War II tanks with the wrong mounts and the wrong ammo cans. Modelers just need to pay attention to detail.

I have seen several World War II halftrack kits with Verlinden packs set that included a packed up Dragon Atgm. Just because it's in the box doesn't mean it's correct for the historical context. So we ask questions and do research. Nature of the hobby

So following the thread, if one wanted a pure US WW II set out of the box which after market kit is the one to go for?

The IDF weapons/mounts are likely just a re-boxing of the machine gun sprues in the Miniart Tiran 4 Late Type kit. Easy production and marketing for Miniart.

On Miniart's fb page, someone asked why they hadn't added the M1919A6, which I support.
This set indeed looks like a US/IDF machinegun set, nothing wrong with that, but perhaps Miniart may want to think about at least a 'pure' .30 set, with the aformentioned M1919A6, the water cooled M1917A1 and such.
Likewise, a decent 'All .50' set with the 'tombstone' magazine would surely be welcome too
