Colin Interesting dio to say the least, and this has all the makings of an excellent scene. Curious as to how this comes together, I'll definitely be following your progress!
I have some of the very figure sets you're using here for a dio that I've been toiling on for a while now, so thanks in advance for keeping up the nice work!
Regards
Dave

Thanks Dave.
well, back after a short break. moved back home after my stint up in the big smoke. now settling back down to modelling.
i picked up a couple of the miniart buildings for the farm
trying to decide which layout
Miniart are an easy, if not cheap, way to get decent looking buildings. but theyre not easy to put together. i've also got a couple of the farm buildings to add as well

"This may end up being bigger than Ben Hur but we'll see how it goes"
Colin aint it funny how wots in the brain can translate to the bench!
I know from personal experience how these things can keep on growing, but I think you've got the beginnings of something real nice here. Sometimes referred to as "mission creep" if I recall.
Question: will that be a "ball dog" or a "rabbit hound" ???

Some of the soldiers will be camping / setting up shelters so i need some zeltbahn.
one of the kits i have has a zeltbahn tent set up

whilst the detail isn't bad it's a bit on the thick side and the corners don't really join together
so, courtesy of Federico Collado and some of his free downloads i thought i'd make my own
first print out one set, they are already scaled to print without any adjustment

and cut out the shapes
these are too flimsy to stand up on their own so i use an old foil tray cut out
(the croissants were nice as well)
to ensure the paper sticks i use a woodland scenics product, hob-e-tac adhesive
spread it and leave to try, it remains tacky
press the paper on and cut out the foil. heres one i prepared earlier . you can make fairly fancy set ups.
the foil allows the sag you would expect with the fabric

Dear Colin,
Nice build.
It looks it is going to be full of small things to look at and feel astonished.
Thanks for sharing.
With reference to the paper zeltbahn you used I am just curious where you bought it.
For some strange reason Arsenal Model seems to be in the dark caves of the internet!
A link where a Dutchman/European could find their catalogue and ordering form would be great.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Full of small things that will take a strain on my eyesight lol
the zeltbahn is from Federico Collada, on a website called FCModeltips
http://www.fcmodeltips.com/2018/03/los-descargables-ahora-todos-juntos.html
he put all of his free downloadables into 1 PDF, theres everything from money, posters, newspapers, magazines, all in 1/35 scale

there are 2 ways depending on the file format. for the JPG's i open them in paint, then print setup and scale to 100% actual size. this should print them out the correct size. fo the PDF its a similarthing but when printing click the actual size radio button
hope that helps

a couple of additions to the cast that will go outside the farm......
The happy campers, the detail is a little soft and i replaced on of the heads with a resin one. the guy standing holding the backpack has a couple of PE harnesses included in the kit
Be vewy vewy quiet, we're hunting wabbits. Adding to the stewpot, a couple of snipers are honing their skills
and a farm table to lay some of the food on, made from balsa wwod and stained
I'm adding a couple of cyclists to the group, with an update set from royal model
theres a bit of an issue with the spokes though. i'm waiting on a reply from royal model
i've also knocked up the repair accessories for the Kubel
one good thing with the Kubel is that the decals include an option for a PropagandaKompanie vehicle, so that idea is starting to flow

Nice tents btw Colin, but wow looks like you got the economy version of the bike update from Royal! Interested to hear what their um spokesperson has to say. If you get desperate there are 2 Masterbox sets with good PE spokes – German soldier-bicyclist 39-45 (MB35171) & Woman/Women’s bicycle WW2 era (MB35166) As for the Tamiya bike frame I guess you could chain it to a lamp-post as a derelict. Looking forward to seeing the camera rolling & the PK tac sign on the Kubel, that'll be a rarity

got the replacement part from Royal Model, excellent service.
this is the before and after pic of the bike
i've been playing with walls. Knocked this foam cutter up in my spare time
trimmed up some insulating foam to match the wall size
I've got some rollers from Green Stuff World with a brick pattern on. These things are so easy to use for adding brick, cobbles, wood etc
and some air dry clay, a bit like Das
rolled a thin piece, covered the foam then rolled the brick patter over it. The only problem is it shrinks and cracks as it dries but i should be able to hide this
i also made a couple of corner posts as well
I'm just waiting on some silicon molds to come through the post to make coping stones etc

Looking good & I’m interested in the rollers – couldn’t be sure of 1/35 equivalent size on GSW’s website, what size are yours? Also I see the nearer roller in your photo’s closed at one end – do you just put a stick in the other end..?..I would have thought it makes it harder to roll in a straight line…?

Thanks for the compliments, work is progressing slowly as i've been doing interviews for a job the other side of the country.
The green stuff world ones are solid perspex, the white one is a piece of PVC pipe from the local hardware store. they size out about 6" although they do longer ones as well for larger areas

I've started on the aufklärungspanzer 38(t) by italeri
and added the Aber PE set
there's a very basic interior for the kit, notmuch but it will do for the view inside
the turret ring requires a little bit of work to fit the PE turret
i also added a couple of turned barrels
plenty more work to do

I've been on a hiatus with this at the moment. Moved from WA to Victoria and had several figures and vehicles broken by the moving company.
possibly due to move to Queensland soon so i'm reluctant to start again.
i do have a few more German figure sets though, either washing, paying instruments etc. and i acquired the PropagandaKompanie set for setting the scene

Colin , it's a shame life's everyday road blocks have interrupted this . Hopefully you'll be able to get back at it soon and show some progress .
