At the risk of seeming to be obsessed by BATUS OPFOR vehicles, I am curious about a detail on the CVR(T) Salamander (as shown in Tankograd's 'BATUS' publication). Am I correct in thinking that the long device fitted to the rear of the gun barrel is a gunfire simulator. I can see that it is basically a long rectangular shape (with the front portion angled) and with a channel running along the top. Does anyone know (or have close-up images) what is actually in this channel. I am aware, that one of the OPFOR modifications to the vehicle is to give the impression of a longer gun barrel by fitting a length of tube over the existing barrel.
