Okay, I finally broke down and bought the Trumpeter Leopold kit. I would greatly appreciate any advice from those that have tackled this beast. I knew it would be a big job. But, you really don't realize it fully until you open the box. 1140 pieces. I can't wait to start. I am going to wait until after I finish a M-12 155mm Motor Carriage for the Incoming Campaign. But like I said, I would like some input on the model.

Hi Steve. There is a great review of this kit on the PMMS site. You can read it here: Leopold review. There is also a good comparison review between the Dragon and Trumpeter kits on the site as well:Leopold comparison review. Good luck on the kit.

Cheers,
Mike

There are a few threads on here with good tips and in progress pictures available. Tank Carl and a few others have been building theirs for a few months now! Check them out. From what I remember there are a few mistakes in the instructions where parts are placed wrongly or mixed up. Check these out first to avoid problems later!
Most of all, good luck and kkeep posting in progress pics as you go along. I have this at home as well and hopefully can get it started in the next few months!

Hi. Fantastic model, at least as far as I'm concerned. But don't get in a big hurry to finish it, as it takes quite some time to do. I only have about half of it done now and kind of got tired of fooling with it till warmer weather comes along. I've built the main gun, ammunition carrier and elevation unit so far and am really well pleased with all of it. Also about half of one of the railroad cars as well. Haven't run into any problems except what I can call my own fault in doing. Luckily I've been able to correct them so far. It's such a big kit that after a while a person has to just take a break from it and do something else.

If I messed up I would have to say it's on building the track. I built the big L-shapped unit, just to see what it would look like, and the only place I can put it is to hang it up out in the garage on the wall. It's that big. Ha!. Oh well, I hope to eventually build a hand made straight track for it anyway, one of these days.

Too many models and not near enough time.
Good luck and take care, Sgirty

Thanks for the help. Hopefully, I will start this kit in a few weeks. I expect it will take me a very long time to finish. I'm going to build the straight track for it. I might head up to Aberdeen at some point to get some reference photos. I will just have to see if my work schedule permits a short vacation/trip. If I do take some reference pic's, I'll be sure to share them with everybody. Thanks again, Steve
