Hi All

I am just starting my first 1/16 Tamiya King Tiger and wondered if anyone can advise on the best paint to prime the metal parts with, I have etching primer and red oxide primer but wondered what other people might have used, any ideas would be welcome. And whether he same prime was used on the hull and the wheels etc.

The short answer, Bob, is whichever one works best for you. I normally use Rustoleum or Krylon rattle cans and have been happy with the results...

I use automotive etching primer for all metal parts. It's cheap and you can get anywhere.

Really clean those metal parts before hand. Denatured alcohol will remove any oil left over from the manufacturing process. Just don't get it on any of the plastic parts, or rubber bits.

Since in posted the question I have tried both and found the etch primer is more resilient as well as using Tamiya thinner to clean the parts first, thanks for taking the time reply
