Tinkering with Tamiya's Marder III. Planning on using the kit markings for Das Reich in Autumn 42. Scheme is straight Dunklegrau. Is there any documentation of them using any camo during summer / fall 42? RAL 8000 or 8020? Already have a PZKW 38(t) Ausf B in French Campaign Grey/brown and am planning an Ausf G in grey with Hungarian markings. Want to break up all that grey. (Side note: Anybody make decals for Romanian 38(t)s and what color were they ... the tanks? Plates I've seen look more like a field grey.)

I've seen the Star decals. Was wondering if there was a set for the PzKw 38(t). If I use the Star set, are the national markings the correct size ? Especially the air recognition marking on the engine hatches. As for google. Tried that. Only confirmed (unit markings visable) photo I have found of a 2nd SS Marder is of the one the Tamiya scheme is based on. Search gives everything with 2nd SS and Marder in the description.

The high command made RAL 7021 (Dunkelgrau) the single camo scheme on July 31, 1940. This policy remained in place until February 1943 when it switched to Dunkelgelb.

As the Marder III came into existence in 1942, it would only have had the single coat of Dunkelgrau. Of course, soldiers did do unauthorized mods in the field. So there is no guarantee crews didn't do anything on their own accord. Officially, it would only be Dunkelgrau.

Let me rephrase the question. Is there any documentation , photographic or otherwise, that 2nd SS Panzer Division applied any unofficial camo to the regulation grey paint scheme (other than winter white wash) with either issued paint from stock (RAL tropical colors), filched from Luftwaffe supplies, captured Soviet sources, or picked up at the local Home Depot?

Anybody know if 16th,19th or 20th Panzer were equipped with Sd Kfz 139. I find info on what Panzerjager Abt. were assigned, but no TO&E. I was looking at 22nd and 27th but 22nd had panzerjagers built off Panzer Is. 27th just had towed AT.
