I have so far been unable to find US soldiers on guard duty, where they would be staying in one place rather than walking around. New kits are coming out all the time, so does anybody know of anything?

It depends what quality you want resin or plastic, Miniart do a jeep crew & MP set includes two standing figures of MP's Dragon do Advance to the Rhine which includes three standing figures suitable for guard duties, hope this helps.
