Are there any more pics of this peculiar ausf D?

It's interesting in that it is a kind of precursor to the long barrel 75 cm gun F2 special with more tank kill power...

Odd that it looks as though there is an oversize champagne cork bunged in the muzzle. Or maybe it's the angle or lighting...

From my understanding, this combination with the 5cm was only tested. While it was stated 80 were ordered, the order was cancelled prior to production starting. The picture you have shown is the only picture I have seen of this tank.

In my copy of Encyclopedia of German Tanks, it states that only one was produced as a mock up from a Ausf D in late 1941. There is a close up of the same pic you posted, and it does look like there is a barrel plug installed.
The book also has a pic of an Ausf F2 with a Kwk 42 L/70. Very interesting...

If it helps, Dragon have released a kit of this vehicle. At the same time as I’d scrapped together all the parts to make one myself
