Hobby Boss: VK 30.01(P) and Tiger II Metal BarrelPosted: Tuesday, September 04, 2018 - 02:35 PM UTC
Kit manufacturers’ interests on the German Tiger and variants don’t seem to wane, and we now have Hobby Boss announcing its take on the prototype. A metal barrel for the Tiger II is also forthcoming.

Another prototype variant of a Tiger, eh? I'm sure that there is a receptive group of builders out there. The metal barrel looks good; I really appreciate the complexity of the brass muzzle break.

They seem to be using the VK4501 turret on the VK3001, which in reality never got its turret completely built.
Now, I wonder; would they be exactly the same turret?
I thought the VK3001 had 50mm armour up there and the VK4501 had 80mm. So the turrets should be slightly different. The cupola, especially, might be redesigned.
But the CAD images seem to depict exactly the VK 4501 turret.
Does anybody know about this?
