I have decided to go with th M4/M3 T-51 tracks for my M12 155mm Gun Motor Carriage. Having only used the individual link tracks supplied with kits, I have no knowledge in this area.
I am trying to decide between the Model Kasten set and the AFV set. I am leaning toward the Model Kasten set. Has anyone here used this set and how where they? Thanks for the help, Steve.

If the AFV club tracks are the workable ones that just snap together, I would go with those. The set for the M-41 are great! Dump em' out of the bag, snap em' together, paint em' and put on your vehicle

I've used Model Kasten for my Type 74 and they were easy to use. They're a little more construction than the Fruils but the results were good. The ones I had were workable so it was an easy fit.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread ... but when we are on the subject...
Workable tracks --- what does this actually mean?
Does it always imply snap together or does workable mean that you could "play" with the tank and the tracks would go around .... no matter if they are snap or lots of little links.
Just wondering!! Sorry for hijacking and thanks for a reply!

Thanks for the help. I ordered the AFV workable tracks. Plasticbattle, I would also like to know the difference in "workable" tracks. I'm assuming the workable tracks snap together without glue, so you can work them into place. Happy modeling, Steve

As far as I know... workable tracks are ones that you can assemble and flex afterwords. Friuls and AFV Club tracks are like that. You can assemble the whole run and lay it out flat or curl it into a ball if you want.
Non-workable tracks are the kind that come in Dragon kits. You have to glue them together - so no flexing once the glue dries...
That is what I think..... lol Who knows if I am right.. :-)

The Tamiya indy links are like the DML kind... non-workable.. You have to glue them together.

I like the frui tracks but sometimes the fit isn't so great but on the other hand they don't break
as easy as modelkasten I once tried to pull some metal links apart they are awsome if only they didn't cost so much.

Just to explain "Workable" ...... the individual links still work after they are assembled. The links flex bend and sag. This makes it easy to replicate track sag and the way they hang over the drive sprocket and idler and rollers. Oh and no I would not play with them as to rolling them over the floor. A bonus of Frulis is the weight they add to the finished model. Model Kasten are wonderful looking but very delicate. Just my two cents.

Thanks Generalzod, 8 pieces per link could equal a pretty big headache.
