Hi,

Can anyone please let me know if the
AFV Club M1A1/A2 tracks are a good fit historically and dimensionally for a Dragon M1A1 AIM?

Thanks a lot, Adam

Either will work, but I think the AFV Club set is easier to build.

Bronco's tracks are very easy to build, i know because i had them long time ago. This is the Real challenge

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/1040377-rye-field-model-rm-5009-m1a1-m1a2-t-158-big-foot

but these are the most accurate tracks for abrams on the market. Available in all Rye Field's Abrams kits and as a separate set.

Speaking about easiest tracks to build, check this out

This is a new Def Model release. Cancel your order for Bronco, and get the DEF MODEL.

Hi,

Thanks, I would have gotten the DEF one as it seems an easier build but It was not really available.

However I could score a Bronco one locally at a pretty good price.

Cheers,

Adam

I have used AFV Club for every Abrams I build. Great stuff and usually very cheap.

Hi Adam,

Good choice on the Bronco Track.
Scale wise is excellent for detail.
Have just finished building the track set and there is a lot of work to complete 1 link. 7 pieces. The tracks reminds me of Model Kasten quality with the links being movable.
Have done a series of images below on the work needed. There are 7 sprue carriers in the box, 3 carriers will do almost a full track for 1 side but the remaining sprue carrier will get you over the line. I am using the track set on the Meng M1A1 Aim and the fit is nice. There is a lot of clean up on the links but well worth the money.

Yes. And the pads are easy to shape, dent, and scratch as needed to show road wear...

Enjoy!

I built a M1A2 Tusk II of Academy in recent time, and I had to replace the kit's tracks because of the lack of hollow guide teeth on the kit's vinyl ones.
I choose the tracks set of Bronco because they were the cheapest available, but I was not satisfied. The fit with the sprocket was bad, probably the step was somewhat wrong, so I had to cut some pins and glue some tracks directly to the sprockets.
I don't know how this set fits with the sprockets of different kits of M1A2.

That's why i chose Def Model for my Academy M1A2 Tusk

More expensive, but very easy to assemble, they fits to Dragon, Academy, Meng and even Rye Field
