I'm astounded anyone still used photo etch 'zimm' as it (always) looks exactly like what it is -i.e. etched metal - and is usually the most expensive option as well. I mean, just look at the 'finish' on the hull MG mount.
Still, each to their own I suppose.

Agree 100%. ATAK is the best option if you don't want to mess with putty and Tamiya and/or AFV Club tools.

While I largely agree about the three-d value of PE Zimmerit I have found that they do make excellent tracing patterns for such finishes as offered by Cavalier and ATAK. As I have several STUGs, for example, to build, the use of the excellent Eduard PE set made sense even if I only use it as a really nice tracing set. Or I use polyester putty and cuss a bit. Okay, sometime more than a bit...
