I am building a M1A1 Abrams and was wondering if a metal replacement barrel is available.
Thanks,
Marc

There are two that Iam aware of. Model Point has one and Barrel Depot does as well. I have used the Barrel Depot barrel and was quite impressed with it, though I have heard etremely good things about the Model Point barrel as well.

Marc,
I have not seen the Barrel Depot offering in person but in pics I have seen of it the bore evacuator appears to have angled edges instead of smooth curved edges on the front and rear. (though Jeff did a nice job on his) The Model Point barrel comes with a separate resin bore evacuator that has the correct contours. The only downside to the MP barrel is it doesn't include the MRS, but it is easy enough to use the one that comes with the kit or to scratchbuild it. If you want to see one check out my Italeri M1A2 in progress in my gallery.

The MP barrel also has notches in the bore evacuator retaining ring to fit the spanner wrench. None of the other ones have that.

Marc,
You can try from Libor Matejka (Panzershop) in Czech Republic here: http://www.panzershop.iol.cz/shopaj.htm. But his prices for MP products are very high and shipping costs are also high ($12 from Czech Republic to Poland!!!), so you may also want to try Model Point US instead: http://www.modelpoint.us.
It is strange - Model Point are Russian company, so you would expect better prices from Czech Republic, but it is not the case. Libor sells M1A1 barrel for $28, while the same barrel is just $19 from Model Point US! And shipping costs from US to Europe in case of small order will probably be lower than $12 Libor charges you... I like to do business with Libor, but I think he went too far this time.
Cheers,
Pawel

Thanks for your advise. The barrel will be a great extra detail for my M1A1.
Cheers,
Marc
