Looking for some good scenery accessories in 1/72 for WW1/WW2 scenes.

For my bases, I use acrylic mud, my N scale railroad grass/scatter etc. but really like adding a well or tent (like the Italieri Desert kit) to a vehicle to give it a little scale & interest.

Any ideas of sites/manufacturers?

Airfix does a lot in 1/72 - I have their airfield resupply set and a few other things. They also do land based kits - a coastal defense emplacement comes to mind, although I do not have that one.
Italeri does nice Nissen huts in 1/72. You just need to look around and you'll find quite a bit.

Nice - yes, I see Italieri has a bit out there. I have the Desert Well and Tents kit which is nice.

I will check airfix.

Simple: nobody, at least when it comes to plastic. You can find excellent resin products, e.g. from CMK.

1/72 unfortunately is even more of a niche than military modelling in general. Therefore, whatever you find in stores is even less than the proverbial tip of the iceberg, because actually, there are loads of manufacturers.

I recommend having a look at the manufacturers listed at http://www.tracks-n-troops.eu/shop/index.php
It is all 1/72! Of course, some only do vehicles/planes/figures, but many do dioarama related stuff, from individual weapons to plants etc., whether in plastic, resin or photoetch. "Value Gear" does great stuff, and it is cheap. "Modeltrans" is also excellent, they a few bunkers or stashes of ammo crates for example. Just go and have a look, there is plenty, really!

Also, you can search on scalemates. Here is what I found when looking for "tents 1/72":

https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?q=%22tents%22++1%3A72

And one further recommendation: Just try scratch building! It is easier than many people think, especially in 1/72!

Have fun with the best scale in the world!

Yes, you need to be on the lookout for a manufacturer called "Nature"

For twigs/trees you can use a natural product marketed as seafoam, like here
https://www.amazon.com/Seafoam-Trees-75mm-Small-WWS/dp/B01N4DYCPP
You should also find it in railroad model shops. You obviously need to add the foliage (unless you're planning to do a winter tree). There a lot of footage products out there (synthetic foam particules (flock), or individual labs x made from paper, card or wood), and there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to use them. If the trunks are too thin, you can use different materials to make them thicker.
Talking about trunks, twigs from various plants can be used here, and they already come with the appropriate bark structure.

Another good natural product for scale trees is plant roots, e.g. from roses.

Other than that, you can use twisted steel wool for bushes and trees (+foliage).

Finally, you can find laser cut or photoetch plant products made for specific scales, e. g. ferns from Modell scale, or PE from E. T. Models.

Cheers!

Hello Brian,

try "diodump" for accessories and "scale75.com" for figures! Great stuff!

Greetings,

Mark
