I know of two options people use for PE:

some people solder PE parts.. I have not done that so far... I might in the future..

The other option is using Cyano-acrylate glue, aka superglue. I have to say, since I washed my PE like normal sprues, this works better (or this might just be my imagination)... A few things I have encountered when working with PE.

  • Annealing the parts (heating them, then let them cool down slowly, certainly helps when having to make a curve in a part.
  • If a part for some reason falls of/is not connected right, try to clean off the glue residue before you try to reattach it.
  • Good luck with wrestling back the small parts from the carpet-god
  • Glueing the edges of boxes and such together is tricky... soldering actually might be the easier option...

Good luck,

Harm

Couple of quick hints that worked okay for me. I am sure the PE Masters will help out more than I can.
Rough up the brass to brass glue surfaces with some fine grit sand paper. It will helps them stick together better.
If you don't want to spent $100.00 on a PE bending tool, use a steel rule and a single edge razor blade. Put the rule over the piece of PE with the edge lined up with the line you to fold to. Hold the rule in place and slide the razor blade under the PE and lift it up. This works best if you do it on a piece of glass... The blue green stuff in the picture is .005 inch aluminum. Didn't have any PE lying around.

Sandwich the PE under the rule...

Lift up to fold it...
