Did any of the Hungarian F-1s live long enough to get the 43 era black square / white cross markings on them? I can't find evidence but I don't believe all were lost in Russia.

Hi,
I have a copy of Peter Mujzer's Huns on Wheels book and here is the comment from there:
"The 1st Armoured Field Division was equipped with 24 Pz.Kpfw F1 in 1942. Only one survived the winter offensive." There is a color profile included but it has the tricolor cross and not the late one.
There were also F2's but again with only one survivor, that was returned to the Germans in 1943. These retained the original German markings.
Hope this helps,
Adam

Thanks, Adam, Yes. I had stumbled into a great site on WW2 Hungarian markings. Super detailed, broke down by vehicle type, photographic proof. Of course I did not think to bookmark it and now cant find it.....

Hey, Adam. Do you know if the F-1s had air recognition marking. I know the Hungarian built stuff ... Toldi and such ... and the PzKw 38(t) had the national marking on the engine deck. F-1 does not allow that. Turret roof? Or top of storage bin? (Turret roof looks nicer and more balanced, but ....) I have yet to find a top view to figure this out.

Hello Tim,
I am not really into WW2 stuff so I cannot really advise on this.
This FB page a lot of interesting posts, maybe you can find it here (or ask around):

nagyon köszönöm, Adam. Good lead. No aerial recognition marks. Damn. Was hoping for a little splash of color.
