Ever since Dragon dropped the ball so spectacularly on their own T80 release years ago I have been wondering when a mainstream player would release a worthwhile kit. Could it be now? And why was it so long in coming?

Maybe "dropped the ball " is a bit harsh ? Those kits were released around the mid '90s if I recall when they probably didn't have much more to go by than a handful of so-so photos, unlike these days when good close up details are more readily available.

I've got 11 T-80's of various flavors, nine DML/Dragon, one Skif and one Xact T-80U. Very nice kit. Let me know if you want a DML/Dragon T-80. You can have them cheap.

No thanks. I'm not saying I'm a fan of the DML kits, I'm saying that when they were released some 25 years ago there wasn't much research material to be had, at least unclassified, to produce an accurate model.
