Hi team
A bit of help here please. A rather nice Sherman based IC.
What is the Mine roller system on this Sherman-Repotenciado and where can I buy the roller in 1/35th?

Many thanks

The mine roller looks like the IDF Nochri Gimel (very similar to the russian KMT-5) I used to have on my Mk.II:

Looks like the Mine Clearing Roller System (MCRS) made by Urdan Industries Ltd of Israel.

Here's a Finnish Leopard 2 A4 fitted with a similar device :

I guess you could use Perfect Scale Modellbau kit #35069 :

It appears to be narrowed by removing the outboard roller wheel on each side, and moving the side plates in accordingly. Not sure if the real thing was modular or adjustable, or if they had to cut & weld it...

That’s a different set called Nochri Dalet used on Mk.3s.

The correct one to use can be found in the Academy boxings of the Merkava II and M60A1 Blazer. Both were released over twenty years ago with the mine roller included. More detailed roller wheels are also available from Blast and DEF. You will still need to remove one of the wheels from each side of course, as the Argentinians have.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The Merkava set has two bays of two rollers each on each side. The Sherman set has one bay with three rollers. At the very least you have to eliminate the central support plate and create three, longer, horizontal supports for each side to span the three rollers instead of just the two per bay of the Merkava set.

And then the attachment system and parts to the hull are very different than those shown for the Merkava. Not impossible, or even terribly difficult, with a few pictures and the resin set at hand, but not a "drop in" fit, to be sure.

I'm no expert Rod, But I think Miniart just solved your problem. They just announced a BMR-1 EARLY MOD. WITH KMT-5M, and just comparing them in photos it looks like the version you're looking for, it has 3 rollers per side, and the rest of the details look right, someone more Knowledgeable than me should be able to tell for sure. Maybe they will release the roller separately?

It's a very early Israeli version more directly copied from captured Russian-made examples before IMI began improving it.

I was about to say that the old Trumpeter set that came with their old T-55 has the right type of rollers but the wrong support framework. But of course the new BMR-1 set is a much better version of the same thing. Not sure that the support frame is any more correct. MiniArt might release the roller set separately.

I believe the Legend KMT Adaptor plate for the Sh'ot can be adapted to fit. At least I hope it can 'cos I have one to do just that....

FC Modeltrend have just released a 3D printed Repotenciado conversion set at about €60. I was waiting for Greg Buechler to release his conversion set, but that's been in the pipeline for a couple of years and may never appear so I might just have to get hold of an FCM one.

Miniart has told me they will release the KMT-5M roller as a separate kit, they just don't know when it will be.
